Hair Fall

In ayurvedic terminology, hair fall is known as khalitya, premature
graying is known as palitya and other kinds of alopecia come under
indralupta. Though tridoshic (vata, pitta and kapha) imbalance is responsible
for hair related problems but pitta dosha is the main culprit that has
been the root cause of it.

Here are some ayurvedic remedies for preventing hair fall, premature
graying of hair and getting rid of dandruff:-

(a) Amalaki (Embelica Officinalis) – It is a one of the most important
herbs that is helpful in stopping hair fall and also improves the hair
texture. It helps in cooling the body thereby reducing pitta that is
mainly responsible for hair fall. It also helps in improving eyesight. It
is both used as orally and for local application on the scalp.

(b) Narikel (Coconut, Coccus nucifera) – It has gained reputation as
one of the most prestigious herbs that helps in promoting re-growth of
the hairs. It helps in repairing the hair roots and reverses any damage
that has caused the problem.

(c) Tila (Sesamum indicum) – The oil of this plant has the properties
that help in complete rejuvenation of hairs on the scalp. This oil is
used as the oil base for most of the hair tonics prevalent nowadays.

(d) Nilini (indigo, Indigofera tinctoria) – Another renowned herb that
has great effects on hairs and also promotes the hair growth
