5 Stop Snoring Treatment Tips

If like me you sound like a bear growling a cave when your asleep, then you
will no that snoring has a big impact on life. Regardless of the health
issues (which are significant), snoring can play havoc with your
relationship.

If you are at you wits end with being woken up every hour either to the
sound of your own snoring, or being dug in the back and told to "Roll Over";
or if you are the long suffering sufferer of a snorer, then read over these
five tips to snoring treatment.

*SNORING TREATMENT TIP 1.*

Take a look at your diet. Although this probably won't be the complete
snoring treatment answer, it is worth starting with what you're eating and
drinking. You could well have intolerance to certain foods which affects
your breathing, especially when lying on you back. For example, too much (or
an intolerance to) dairy produce is likely to cause you to become blocked up
with mucus, when horizontal, this collects causing heavy breathing and
snoring. Alcohol is another common offender.

*SNORING TREATMENT TIP 2.*

Being overweight is another significant contributor. Excess weight in the
neck and chest puts pressure on the breathing passage.

*SNORING TREATMENT TIP 3*

Sleep on you side or front. Now this is easier said than done, because it's
hard to control your sleeping position when you are asleep! However, there
is an old trick that may be worth considering. You could sow a walnut, table
tennis ball or similar size object into the back of a shirt and wear that in
bed. Each time you roll on your back it will dig into you, causing you to
roll back again – providing you don't take your shirt of in your sleep.

*SNORING TREATMENT TIP 4*

Use nasal strips. I found these to be very helpful, at least to start with.
Nasal strips (often used by athletes) open the air passage for you, thus
removing or preventing blockages. If your desperate it's worth a try, but
the cost can add up over the days, months and years.

*SNORING TREATMENT TIP 5*

I've saved the best until last. Exercising the muscles in your throat,
tongue and doing breathing exercises can completely cure your snoring. It
worked for me and I know it can for you.

Sciatica

Sciatica is the normal cause for lower back pain which has raditing nature.Read about this disease affecting the lower back

Sciatica- Orgin and Symptoms
The nerve starting from spinal chord end and going right up to end oftoe on feet is called sciatica nerve. This is the longest nerve inour body. Many branches of this nerve go in the hips, thighs, areasabove knee, calf muscles etc. This nerve passes though many narrowregions, and whenever it encounters blockage or pressure on it, painis the result. This is a relatively common form of low back pain andleg pain.
Sciatica is usually caused by pressure on the sciatic nerve from aherniated disc (also referred to as a ruptured disc, pinched nerve, slipped disk, etc.). The problem is often diagnosed asa "radiculopathy", meaning that a disc has protruded from its normalposition in the vertebral column and is putting pressure on theradicular nerve (nerve root), which connects with the sciatic nerve.
For some people, the pain from sciatica can be severe anddebilitating. For others, the pain from sciatica might be infrequentand irritating, but has the potential to get worse. Usually, sciaticaonly affects one side of the lower body, and the pain often radiatesfrom the lower back all the way through the back of the thigh anddown through the leg. Depending on where the sciatic nerve isaffected, the pain may also radiate to the foot or toes. One or more of the following sensations may occur as a result ofsciatica:Pain in the rear or leg that is worse when sittingBurning or tingling down the legWeakness, numbness or difficulty moving the leg or footA constant pain on one side of the rearA shooting pain that makes it difficult to stand up
While sciatica can be very painful, it is rare that permanent nervedamage (tissue damage) will result. Most sciatica pain result frominflammation and will get better within two weeks to a few months. Also, because the spinal cord is not present in the lower (lumbar)spine, a herniated disc in this area of the anatomy does not presenta danger of paralysis.
Symptoms that may constitute a medical emergency include progressiveweakness in the legs or bladder/bowel incontinence. Patients withthese symptoms should seek immediate medical attention.
Any condition that causes irritation or impingement on the sciaticnerve can cause the pain associated with sciatica. According tomodern science, the most common cause is lumbar herniated disc. Othercommon causes of sciatica include lumbar spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, or isthmic spondylolisthesis. Impressivenames, but difficult to remember for ordinary patients.
In the vertebrae of the spine, the displacement of cartilage, swelling in the cartilage or fibroisitis also causes pressure on thenerve and acute pain. Patient can not walk easily and limps.
This condition is termed Gudhrasi in ayurveda. It is caused mostly byVata, while sometimes it is due to Vata and Kapha dosha both prevail.Presence of Kapha dosha is revealed by reduced hunger, lack ofappetite/test of the food, swelling on the face or below eyes duringmorning. Swelling generally disappears after few hours every day. Many people assume that sciatica is not curable. In fact, as the timepasses, the ailment becomes difficult to cure.
In modern science, X-rays, MRI etc are used for investigation andgenerally results in surgical solution; however, in the opinion ofauthor, ayurvedic treatment can cure a majority of such patients.

Treatment
Here is an Ayurvedic approach to cure sciatica

Foamentation:When sciatica is accompanied by Kapha vitiation, fomentation helpssubstantially. Fomentation can be applied through three ways.Electric heating pad can be applied to paining areas. Advantage ofelectric pad is the regulation of temperature and time of heating, plus convenience of treatment when patient is attending to otherpastimes. Second alternative is putting fine beach sand in a clothbag/pillow, heating the bag on hot plate (used for roasting chapatiin India) and applying to aching areas. Regulation of time andtemperature is to be done by patient himself. Third alternative isfor those who find getting beach sand is difficult. One can take seasalt crystals in cloth bag and use in identiacal manner.
Whatever method adopted, fomentation is seen to help in sciatica pain.
Massage: When sciatica is caused by Vata dosha, one can gently massage fromwaist to foot sole using seasame oil or Mahanarayan Tailam. Massagecan be done by patient himself or someone else can do it. Patientshould lie down on the bed with stomach touching the bed. All theback side becomes available to a massage expert then. There are manyaccu pressure points located on waist, hip crease, thighs, calfmuscles and feet. One can use stale cow urine or its distillate formassage and it is seen that most rapid relief is obtained in thatcase. Special massage is necessary to soles of the feet. Ayurvedaterms it as `Pad Abhayanga'. The ancient sage have mentioned thatthis `Pad Abhyanga' cures Gudhrasi - Sciatica.

Medicines
Parijat: The best inexpensive remedyParijat is a common tree which bears very attractive flowers havingorange colored stem and few white petals. The flowers fall to theground during night and even a little shake given to tree causesflowers to fall to the ground.
Take 21 leaves of this tree. Grind them coarsely and add in two cupsof water. Add in ½ tsp of ginger powder. Boil on slow heat till halfcup remains. Add in 1 tsp of Castor oil in the tea made this way andstirr well before drinking warm. Castor oil can be increased upto 6tsp (30ml) gradually, as body digests it. One can add ½ tsp of Giloypowder, if ginger powder increases inflamation during motion. Thistea should be drunk on emty stomach morning. Nowadays tablets madefrom Parijatak extract are available, which can be taken 2 – 2(morning, evening). Author prefers fresh leaves, tea rather thanextract tablets. Many indian pharmacies now make these tablets.
Cow urine + Castor Oil.For those who do not have access to Parijata tree, but can obtain cowurine or its distillate (Gomutra Arka), they can take 2-4 tsp freshcow urine with 2 tsp Castor oil stirred in, morning as well asevening. Fresh cow urine is very `Tikshna' and many are unable todrink it. For such patients, 2-4 tsp Gomutra arka can be substituted.Cow urine or its distillate opens microchannels blocked by Kapharapidly. Castor oil is a well known enemy of Vata dosha. Mixture ofcow urine and castor oil cures very old sciatica pain also.
Shilajit RasayanaThis formulation is a classical one. Contains Giloy, Guggul andShilajit. While Giloy acts on Kapha dosha due to bitter taste,Guggula is a highly benific in all Vata diseases. Shilajit reducesall blockages, swellings, ama and thus reduces pressure on sciaticanerve, causing pain relief. Take 2 – 2 tab each 250 mg, slight chewand swallow with water.
UshnodakaPatients suffering from sciatica should not drink fridge water. Theyshould drink luke warm water throughout the day. The properties ofushnodaka in reducing Kapha, ama are already discussed in earlierposts on ayurvedaonline.
Food – LifestyleAfter fasting for 2-3 days in beginning (only ushnodaka), patientscan take light food such as rice, dhal, green gram khitchri, greenvegetables or their soups, chapati, buttermilk (which is not sour)cow ghee, cow butter etc. Avoid legumes. Green gram exception. Sleepwell during night and do not sleep during day.
If one follows the restrictions meticulously, sciatica will be cured,no matter how old.

Constipation

Symptoms

Following are the signs that indicate the presence of this ailment:

- No bowel movements at least once a day
- Pain in the abdomen
- Heaviness in the stomach
- Wind formation
- Mucus coated tongue
- Headache
- Loss of appetite
- Pain in the lower legs
- Hypertension, fever
- Nausea
- Vertigo
- Palpitation
- Drowsiness

Causes

The aggravation of vata causes constipation. Improper eating habits
including eating a lot of food, eating food which is difficult to digest
(such as meat) and not eating enough vegetables and salads also lead to
constipation.

Irregular sleeping habits or emotional disturbances (stress, grief, fear
or worry) are other causes for the obstruction of the passage of stool,
accumulation of toxins in the colon or excessive stimulation of the nervous
system.

Smoking, consuming too much tea and coffee, or intake of prescription or
illicit drugs can also cause constipation.

Remedies

- Drinking a glass of warm milk before going to bed helps in easy
evacuation in the morning. In case of severe constipation, mix two teaspoons
of castor oil in the milk.
- Drink one liter of warm water and walk around for a few minutes
immediately after waking up early in the morning.
- Drinking lemon juice mixed with warm water two to three times a
day eases constipation.
- One or two teaspoons of aloe gel can be taken twice a day.
- A common Ayurvedic medicine for constipation is Triphala Churna.
It is a powder made by grinding three kinds of herbs. A teaspoon of this
powder taken with warm water or milk at the time going to bed is beneficial.

Dos and don'ts

- The diet taken during constipation must be easily digestible.
- Plenty of fruits, vegetables and salads
- Freshly cooked food, and chew food thoroughly.
- Eat only when hungry and maintain at least 4 hours between meals.
- Use spices like cumin, coriander, turmeric powder, fennel and
asafetida as they make the food easy to digest.
- Whole grain bread and cereals
- Regular physical exercise is also important for maintaining proper
bowel movements.
- Sleeping hours should be regulated and efforts should be made to
have a sound sleep.
- Fried foods, beans, gas forming vegetables like cabbage,
cauliflower and broccoli, nuts and dried fruits should be avoided.
- Do not mix too many kinds of foods in one meal.

*Drink water. Lose weight!*

WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT? THEN CHECK OUT THESE TIPS

- Just replace some of the high calorie foods you eat with fruits, vegetables and other water dense foods that keep you just as full.
- We know it sounds too good to be true, but new research conducted atPennsylavania State University suggests it is possible to lose weight bymaking small changes in your diet.
- The rationale behind eating water dense foods is that whatever youeat can go out of the system very fast. Example an apple which has 98per cent liquid and very few calories. A sweet of the same size will have 20times more calories.
- People tend to eat the same amount of food each day, regardless ofthe calories. Adding vegetables to that pizza, lasagna or casserole willincrease the food's volume and result in fewer overall calories consumedsince portion sizes tend to stay the same
- Another study on obesity shows a link between lack of sleep andgaining weight -- skimping on sleep may make you vulnerable to obesity.
- The finding is based on data from the National Health and NutritionExamination Survey conducted in the US. The study discovered that people whoreported getting less than seven hours of sleep a night were more likely tobe obese on initial evaluation.

Why water is necessary********
*1.* Our bodies contain over 70 percent water.
*2.* You can go longer without food than water.
*3.* Our bodies need a lot of water to function efficiently.
*4.* Water helps flush out harmful toxins and thus readies the body for fatloss.

*When your body is not getting enough water*****
It tries to hold on to the water it has. Since over 70 percent of ourmuscle is made of water, the lack of it makes our body use the existingwater for other functions, leaving you bloated.

*Hot or cold water?*****
~Many experts tend to advocate cold water, because the stomach absorbs itmore quickly. They believe that cold water might enhance fat burning.
~Warm water is, however, easier to drink in large quantities and you mightdrink more of it without even realising it. Do whatever suits you, here.Just drink more!
*How much water?*****
You must drink at least seven to eight glasses (1.9 litres) of water a day.

SEVEN DANGERS OF LIFE

Don't Do's After Meal

[Danger 1]
Don't smoke- Experiment from experts proves that smoking a cigarette
after meal is comparable to smoking ten cigarettes (chances of cancer is
higher).

[Danger 2]
Don't eat fruits immediately - Immediately eating fruits after meals
will cause stomach to be bloated with air. Therefore take fruit one to
two hours after
meal or one hour before meal.

[Danger 3]
Don't drink tea - Because tea leaves contain a high content of acid.
This substance will cause the Protein content in the food consumed to be
hardened and thus difficult to digest.

[Danger 4]
Don't loosen your belt - Loosening the belt after a meal will easily
cause the intestine to be twisted and blocked.

[Danger 5]
Don't bathe - Bathing will cause the increase of blood flow to the hands,
legs & body thus the amount of blood around the stomach will therefore
decrease. This will weaken the digestive system in our stomach.

[Danger 6]
Don't walk about - People always say that after a meal walk a hundred steps
and you will live to be ninety nine. In actual fact this is not true.
Walking will cause the digestive system to be unable to absorb the nutrition
from the food we intake.

[Danger 7]
Don't sleep immediately - The food one intakes will not be able to digest
properly. Thus will lead to gastric and infection in the intestine.

Keep away from doing these things from now onwards and lead a healthy life.
